When it came to passing Ocon for the lead it was another tough fight and Bernstorff once had to miss the first chicane and rejoin the track behind the Frenchman only to start a new attack on the next lap where he managed to outbrake and pass Ocon on the outside into the Roggia chicane a move that impressed the many spectators in the stands and judging by the twitter activity also those watching on TV. Once in the lead Bernstorff managed the gap for the remaining 1.5 laps to be the first driver to take the checkered flag.

“I knew from the Friday practice session that we had good speed in the dry, but after the first few laps wasn’t really expecting to make it all the way to take the win.” admitted Bernstorff. “Once I had passed my team mate Kevin for third I could suddenly see that the leader was within reach and I kept pushing for the win. A big thanks goes to my Team Arden for giving me very strong support and a fantastic race car” said a very happy Bernstorff
